    Thanks for this.

I didn’t think my boxes would elicit a poetic response. Must be the music.

Sorry it’s taken so long to get back to you.

    Hi Naturemannz,

~We had a great holiday in NZ a few years ago. Great country. Just like the U*K nused to be 30 years ago! Can you send me a pic of your favourite box. I would like to see it. Keeping bopxing.

    Hi,

The “secret”, if there is one is in the blade guide which prevents a degree of lateral movement. My understanding is that Scheppach have stopped making them!

Sorry about your crap day. I have plenty of those when nothing goes right. I find coming in from the workshop and shouting at my wife helps a bit.

    Hi,

Thanks for this. The construction method is as old as the hills. I like to think, though, that what I am doing inside is unique to me. The box on the vid, with the semi-circular key, is certainly one of my best sellers. A number of people have ordered a box, “Just like the one on the video!” The technique you comment on is, by the way, very simple but i have had to discard a small forest of wood to get it “right”. Not that i am ever satisfied that anything I do is “right”

No problems with the cyano so far. Nobody has come back to me and said their box has fallen apart. Couldn’t do what I do without cyano.

    Thanks for the Posting.

    Gorgeous band saw box!

Are you still happy with the cyanoacrylic glue? I have heard others doing band saw boxes that like CA glues, but others said it doesn’t hold over time.

    Thanks!

That’s very delicate technique with the bandsaw, is that an original design?

Hi I had a crap day in the workshop today trying to make turns like you do in that vid. I tried using soft wood and a 8th of an inch blade. But it twists and pretty much impossible to keep to the line. Is it the quality of the tool. My bandsaw is medium quality around the same size as yours in the vid. But i cant cut like that.

Thankyou so much for posting. Very impresive bansaw skill. I Am a box maker from Nz. Im in my 4th year of just pumping out small simple boxes. I have been turning my attention towards more complex and flamin’ clever box. The glue method looks good. Not sure if we can get that here in NZ. Also, i work with mostly new zealand native timbre, and they are medium to hard woods. Even though some say they are soft. My favourite box is half wild looking driftwood and sharp and finnished half.

    Hi Muserwood
Glad you like my work. I use a ‘thick’ cyanoacrylic glue which I apply with a fine pipette. Messes up my finger tips but it means I can glue the pieces together very quickly, particularly if I also use the ‘kicker’ when drying is instantaneous. I buy the stuff from a place in Liverpool. I can let you have contact details if required.

Unbelievable ! Could you tell me about your glue and the dispenser ? I’m always trying to find a glue that doesn’t show up when I stain my projects. Any thoughts ?
