Would you pay to have me teach your kids arts and crafts?

Question by riartfineimages: Would you pay to have me teach your kids arts and crafts?
I’m an artist and have a lot of experience working with children and people with developmental disabilities. I would love to start a program where I would come to people’s homes and show kids, adults, whoever is interested in arts and crafts projects.

Painting, stenciling, drawing, assemblage, sculpture, beading. I have a lot of ideas which aren’t limited to just children.

Basically I need some feedback before I venture into this idea.

I love crafts and always am looking for new ideas. But, I have to say, I wouldn’t want you to come to my home to teach me or my kids. I’d much rather go to a well-equipped studio or classroom to learn. That way I won’t make a mess in my home, I don’t have to have room dedicated to learning a new craft, I don’t have to invest in materials before I’m sure I want to pursue it. I’m sure you’re good with kids and adults, but I don’t think the idea works for a lot of people.

What type of arts and crafts activity would a 13 year old boy like to do on a family beach vacation?

The 13 year old is my nephew and it is an annual beach trip with his parents, his 11 year old brother, his 7 year old sister, my mom and my 7 year old daughter. We have always had a great time doing arts and crafts but last year I realized that he was getting a little old for the stuff we have always done and I really don’t know what a guy his age would find “cool” to do….. I really don’t want to embaress him, I just want him to have fun. Any ideas?

I would like to find a machine where I can create stencils to cut craft foam?

This is my situation. I’ve created several foam decorations and would like to sell them for children to create them but tracing and cutting by hand takes to long. I need a machine that allows me to use my own dies and cuts them for me.

Would you spend $10 for 1 hour of free time while your kids made crafts?

Once a week, would you pay $10 for your kids to be at a neighbors house making crafts for an hour? I want to make a little money and i figure 4 kids one hour a week would be $40 a week for doing what i like… what do you think?

Would it bother you to now that I made a fortune selling Christian arts & crafts and I am a RAVING ATHEIST?

Would it bother you to know that I live and enjoy a luxourious lifestye because people spend their hard earned cash on fairy tale treasures.
What make me different than your Church’s Minister?
Does he live in a very nice house, drink the finest wines, and drive a great big, brand new motorhome, while you pay his bills? Is he big and fat from gorging himself on fine steak and cavier?

I have 12 kids in my class boys & girls, the youngest child in my class is 18 months & the oldest ones are almost 3 or barley 3.(3yr olds move to another class every spring so they will be moving on in a month or two.) so mainly i need simple crafts for 18 months – 2yrs. Parents with less money, what would you want?

About 15 minutes away from where I live, there is a poor town with many homeless people. I was driving through the town one day, and I relized that many of these people don’t work because they don’t have anyone to watch their young kids. Daycare is very expensive so I came up with an idea to open a free daycare. I got 20 of my friends to help me sponsor it, and they are amazing. Basically this is what we do.

7:30am – The kids and there famiy arrive at the center. Everyone is served free breakfast.
8:00am – The parents leave for work. The older children are tranfered into there school. The younger kids stay.
8:30am – The children relax for a while. They get to sit down and watch a movie for there age group.
10:00am – This is the time we learn about shapes, numbers, colors, letters, etc in a fun way for their age group.
12:00am – Everyone gets a free lunch in the dining room.
12:30am – Nap time. kids under 2 get a crib and the kids over 2 get a cot.
2:00pm – They get up and we go for a walk. The younger kids have a large stroller and the older ones have this long I guess rope type thing with a bunch of handles for them.
2:30pm – They get to play on the playground and with trikes.
3:30pm – The ‘big kids’ are taken from school to the center. Everyone has a snack in the dining room.
4:00pm – The older kids do their homework while the little kids get to do an easy craft.
4:30pm – Everyone has indoor play time. We have playdough, games, toys, etc.
5:00pm – We have the activity of the day.
6:00pm – The parents come to pick up the kids. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday they get to stay for dinner.

Now in a month we will be opened for 2 years. We decided we should add a new thing. The group agreed that this would be good. Here are the ideas we came up with (we already offer finance and parenting classes).
- We only take kids OVER 6months right now, so someone suggested we open it to all ages.
- Provide a bag for each parent with hygine supplies.
- Offer some jobs for the parents at the center (cleaning, supply manager, assistant, cook, activity manager, etc.)

What are some other ideas?
It is funded by myself, the 20 friends, and a ton of my family. We got the building really cheap! The food is provided by a local resturant. I got all the toys and furnatiure was gotten cheaper and payed for extra by all of us. It is a great thing to do. We also have a ton of fundraisers. We had all the kids get a small white tile and they decorated it and we sold them for like $200 a tile.
