Easy Crafting With a Magnifier Lamp

The right kind of light is vitally important when a person’s interest in crafting develops from mere dabbling into a passion. Those activities which require attention to the details–things like sewing, beading and glass etching, to name just a few–demand a light that will allow the finer elements in one’s work to stand out. The latest magnifier lamp meets these demands with gusto, utilizing a variety of features to keep hobbyists happy and their eyesight healthy.

Detailed crafting demands a certain level of visual acuity because the eyes must process detailed information on a continual basis. While the light that most florescent and incandescent bulbs emit is discolored, imbalanced and dull, the specially designed bulbs that are used in this new magnifier lamp emanate a much cleaner, more natural light. There is none of the discoloration found in standard lighting, which allows artists of all varieties to match their colors more accurately.

The low-glare feature of these lamps is particularly beneficial to the crafty sort, because low glare means greater contrast and an improved ability to make out the details. Words pop off the page, stitches become clearer, the tiny holes on those glass beads are more visible, and any flaws that may otherwise have been missed stand out and beg for attention. In other words, low-glare lighting means a more efficient and comfortable work environment, no matter what one’s particular hobby may be.

While the specially designed bulb provides many of the benefits found in the magnifier lamp, it is the unique physical structure of the lamp itself that makes it a worthwhile choice for any crafting studio. A good magnifier lamp will be able to rotate a full 360° and orbit around the flat base so one can easily focus the light precisely where it is needed.

The variety of positions that the lamp achieves will be particularly useful when combined with a 3x optical grade magnifier that is built into the lamp head. This may be the most useful physical feature of all–the magnifier conveniently flips out of the lamp head for use whenever one needs to see something in closer detail. This could be a vital feature for hobbyists with vision issues or for those who engage in highly detailed or fine-scale work. A good magnifier lamp could be worth its weight in gold to a professional jewelry maker, for instance.

The flexibility of the physical design and the ease of use make a good magnifier lamp a sound addition to anyone’s crafting space. Add to those perks the inherent benefits and added comforts of the lo- glare, low-heat, high-definition natural lighting provided by the bulb, and it becomes clear that while standard lamps may work, they won’t work quite well enough.

What is this sewing, crafts, etc. forum site?

A long time ago I found a great forum, where people posted pictures and instructions for different sewing and do-it-yourself projects (there were several forums for very specific types of projects.) It seemed very popular; there were tons of threads and users.
I feel silly for not bookmarking it, but I can’t remember the name of the site. Do you know of any sites that sound like this one? (and no, its not Better Homes and Gardens or hgtv)
I think the layout of the site was orange..?

Safe Sewing Kits for Kids and Hobby Formation

Sewing is a boring hobby to form when you are already an adult. So, when would be the right time to form a foundation for this hobby and possible career?  At a very young age. Getting children involved in sewing activities will arouse their interest in sewing as a hobby and a career.

But how do you do it when sewing materials may pose a danger these children? Well there are a lot of kits that you can use in teaching them how to sew. These kits are usually available in various stores and make great gifts. These sewing kits are specially designed for kids since fun is balanced with learning.

Romina Abrigo Editor of the “Sewing Machines For Sale” website — http://www.SewingMachinesForsale.me — pointed out;

“…One kit that you could give your child, nephew or niece is the My First Sewing Kit by Alex toys. This kit is suited for children aging from seven onwards. It contains all the safe sewing materials that a child will need to complete a project. Moreover, it has instructions on threading a needle, fastening a thread and making a straight stitch…” Added Romina Abrigo

Another kit from Alex Toys is the Simple Needlepoint. Offering a safe introduction to the craft of sewing, this kit comes in various styles such as puppy, kitten or a frog. This kit is highly recommended for kids ages seven and above.

Super embroidery kit is another sewing kit that will give a child all the materials necessary in embroidering. This even contains a plastic embroidery hoop, felt and embroidery floss. Similar to My First Sewing Kit, this kit is equipped with instructions on how to make a straight, back, whip, cross, stem, split, lazy daisy, French knot, blanket, satin and couching stitches.

Dying is another activity within the craft of sewing. A perfect way of teaching the art of dying to children would be by using a kit called the Tie Dye Party. This kit contains enough dye to change the color of four T-shirts. This is perfect for kids at least six years of age.

You might also be interested in teaching your child how to weave. In introducing weaving to your child, you can use  EZ Wavey Tote Bag, a weaving kit complete with the necessary materials for weaving. Materials are already cut into strips so children need not use sharp scissors.
Forming a hobby such as sewing may be hard for adults. Having sewing as a hobby requires exposure to the craft during childhood days.

“…So, if you want your child to have sewing as a hobby, expose them to sewing activities and allow them to use sewing kits that are safe and fun to use…” Added Romina Abrigo
