Halloween Crafts For Adults – Let Your Imagination Go Wild!

A fun activity during Halloween is to decorate your home with hand made art and craft decorations. With a little imagination, one can make wonderful decorations to beautify the house and give it that festive look during Halloween. It is not necessary to be an expert at craft making, but a little imagination and ingenuity will go a long way to succeed in this project. A quick search on the Internet for ideas on homemade decorations will speed up your imaginative powers. You can come up with some creepy looking decorations by making use of simple household items. Most often, people like to transform their homes into haunted houses.

The yard is the best place to start with Halloween decorations. You can turn it into a creepy cemetery. You can give it a ghoulish appearance by putting ‘tombstones’ all around it. These can be simple plywood cut out into half- spheres. Attach some nails to the bottom, or push them down into the ground so that they stand up. You can paint them black and put some scary writings on them. The lighting in the yard can also be adjusted to throw eerie shadows over the yard. A few ‘ghosts’ made up of white sheets tied on to bushes will do the trick. Balloon Ghosts in white with attached bells can be left to float in the breeze. Their haunting chimes may scare even the strongest hearted person!

Halloween Crafts for the indoors can be made easily. One way to get a spooky effect in the house is to drape a fine white cloth, artistically painted with a ghost face, on the windowpane. Bats, artificial cobwebs and witch cutouts can be put up on the walls or hung from the ceiling to complete the creepy effect.

Many of these crafts can be made by kids too. However, if there is a need to use power tools for creating them, it is best left to the adults to do the job. Children can be involved to do simple things like painting or gluing on glitter, beads and sequins. This can be a fun activity done together to create something unique.

Your creativity is limited only to your imagination. Use your imagination and creativity while putting together Halloween crafts. As adults, your creations will be much neater since you are now agile while using your hands. Let the kids participate as well. There is nothing better than having a family activity to bring everyone closer! Have fun and enjoy your time with the family during Halloween.

Homemade Halloween crafts are a great way to decorate your home in an inexpensive way. For the best Halloween craft ideas you usually don’t need to go out and buy anything special. Even if you do need to buy something it will probably not cost much. When you need to buy all sorts of decorations you will need to spend a lot of money and some will never look quit as good then when you would put some effort in yourself. In the end it will all depend on the amount of time you want to spend in making all those different Halloween craft ideas.

Halloween craft idea #1: make party invitations with your kids

Something you can make as simple or difficult as you like are invitation for your own Halloween party. You can make them yourself, make them with the kids or with the right preparations you can let the kids make them all by themselves. Making their own invitations is something most kids will love to do. A very simple idea is to trace around the hands on a brown or mustard yellow card for monsters, or green cards for witches. Silver or white cards can be used for ghost hands. The kids can stick on fingernails made from paper. Best thing is to let them be creative but you can give them hints and let them make the monster nails black or gray and witches nails can be made more colorful. Let the kids decorate the hands in their own way and let them imagine how ghost, witch or monster hands look like. When they are all done you can write the invitation on the back side.

Top 5 DIY Halloween Costumes For Toddlers and Kids

Halloween is almost here and you still have time to get your kids some trick-or-treat Halloween costumes. But come to think of it, it isn’t really practical to buy a costume from the kids’ department at your local mall since the following year your kids will be bigger and taller, and their costumes would be out-of-date.

A better and practical way to solve this problem is to DIY or do it yourself. You can save a lot from DIY Halloween costumes for kids because you won’t be wasting a couple of dollars for each kid each year. Even if you do spend some dollars, it won’t be such a waste of money afterwards especially if you will just purchase small items to complete the look of your kids’ costumes.

In order to come up with costumes from ordinary clothing and/or materials that are available at home, you should think first of themes or characters for your kids. If you are like most parents who do not have the time to do some arts and crafts project, you can always use what’s available and easy to make.

Below are 5 DIY Halloween costumes that are easy and cheap to assemble:

(1) The Black Ninja

This is very simple to create and you only need black long-sleeved shirts, black pants or sweatpants, black socks and shoes [sneakers preferably] and black ski masks. They may look like burglars if they don’t have ninja swords and you can make these out of cardboards and some silver paper. You can also add each a colored-belt using thin scrap fabrics that you can get from craft stores or from your local seamstress for free.

Your kids can form a band of ninjas and you can also alter the color of their costumes by using colored shirts and pants.

(2) The Break Dancer

Now, this is pretty easy. Look into your kid’s wardrobe and most likely he has a beanie, a hooded jacket and a printed shirt. Jeans and sneakers are always good segments for this look. You can also add a single glove to complete the look and of course an appropriate hairstyle. Your kid may look like an ordinary kid this way, but adding a prop sound system made of cardboard that he could carry will do the trick. Make this prop sound system his goody bag by making it from a box with an opening and latch to secure the goodies inside.

(3) Mummy kiddos

Some prefer to use ordinary tissue rolls in creating a mummy, but using rolled paper towels are better since they are tougher and wider. Roll the paper towels around your kids’ body, limbs and head, but do not cover the face, you can use make up to create a scary face. Make sure that your kids’ are wearing shirts and tights or shorts underneath. They should also wear socks and white sneakers, if they have white.

You can use ordinary glue to stick the paper towels together. Leave some paper towels hanging and put makeup on each kid.

(4) Zombie kids

Creating a zombie clan is also very easy. You only need imagination and makeup to create a scary look for each kid. As for their clothes, choose the ones that are already very worn out so you can put holes and tear some parts. You can layer their costumes by using good shirts underneath and the torn ones on top. You can add blood and grime colors using water-based dyes that can be bought in the grocery or craft stores. Do this a few days before trick-or-treat day so the dye can dry.

(5) Vampire clan

Since Twilight is a popular book and movie, why not create a vampire clan based on this popular saga. You can make your kids look like the Cullens or another clan. It only takes some nifty-looking clothes to match the clan and also face powder to make their skins look pale. You may want to add false fangs to complete the look. No contact lenses for the kids, though. Just make them look like the Cullens by wearing light-colored clothes that are similar in style or you wish them to look like the vicious clans or the rouges, you can make them wear darker attire.

Not all parents have the time to create and design a costume from scratch. But with a little creativity and imagination, you will find that your kids’ wardrobe have more than what you need to create a character for him on Halloween.

Halloween Party Ideas 2009

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year – a perfect opportunity to have a Halloween Party. Whether you are having a child’s party or adult party there are many themes and ideas that will keep your guests talking for years. Here are a few fun and easy suggestions:

Costume Party. This is nothing new, but you can put a twist on it. You can make it a Pirates and Princess party for kids or a male/female pirates party for adults. Famous people party works best for adults, with costumes available for celebrities, sports personalities, politicians, etc. If your crowd isn’t the type to put on elaborate costumes, simply ask everyone to dress in black and orange.

Non-Spooky party. Kids, especially young ones, can be scared by the darker side of Halloween. If you want a non-spooky party for kids, try a different theme like a sports party (where guests have to dress up like dancers, hockey players, football players, sumo wrestlers, etc.) Super heroes is also a fun theme. A girls’ party could be princesses and fairies. Animal costumes is another easy crowd favorite – especially if you decorate the room like a Halloween barn.

Invitations. Home made invitations are always fun and impressive. You can print photos, clip art or pictures from the internet to glue on paper. You can also cut the invitation card into silhouettes – like ghosts, pumpkins, witch hats, etc. The invitation could have something that springs out when the viewer opens it. Stickers and confetti are easy ways to decorate cards. Keep the card stock in Halloween colors like black, orange, purple or green.

Decorations. My favourite party look for Halloween is to replace all of the lights in the party room with black lights. Put black tablecloths on the tables, cover the walls with black paper or black posters. Cotton batting, spread thin to look like cobwebs, can decorate your black table cloth. Get white plastic plates so they will glow in the dark and appear to be floating on the table. For kids, Mountain Dew is a great beverage to put in clear plastic glasses, since it glows in the dark. Strings of orange lights are available at many party and dollar stores. Use these to line doorways and walls, or put them inside pumpkins instead of candles.

Food: Black and orange foods are always appropriate (such as as orange cheese, Cheetos, black licorice, chocolate, pumpkin cupcakes) as is spooky baked goods and candy. Carve out pumpkins and line them with clear plastic bags to use as chip bowls or flower centerpieces. A glowing fruit punch bowl or colored ice cubes make for fun drinks.

Music. Burn a cd ahead of time with fun Halloween and Thriller type songs. Sound effects are fun to mix in. You can often rent or buy dry ice machines or disco balls if you want to make the dance floor really “spooktacular”.

Make A Halloween Lantern The Cheap and Easy Way

Halloween time indicates a number of activities that are full of enjoyment and excitement. Both the children as well as adults anticipate events like making Halloween masks, lanterns, and costumes and playing with the creative ideas. Lanterns give a festive look to the occasion.

Making Halloween lanterns is one of the simplest thing that may be tried by employing generally available material at home. While there’s no end to innovation and creative ideas, there are some time tested systems of making Halloween lanterns that are commonest. 3 great ideas for making Halloween lanterns are given below.

Halloween Lantern made from Empty Canisters

As the name implies, these are made out of empty canisters of paint, milk powder, cereals, and so on.

Material used – Beside empty canisters, the other material that may be needed is -a cutter or two scissors, black marking pen, colored paper, bulb holders, length of electrical wire, glue, etc .

System – First, draw the outline of a face on the canister and make holes for the mouth and eyes using the metal scissors or a cutter. Using the glue make a face by putting coloured paper on the outline of the face. You may use paint instead of coloured paper. Make a hole at the base of canister, and put the bulb holder with wire through that and your Halloween lantern and is prepared. You may also employ a candle instead of bulb and can either hang it or put in the garden with a stake by fixing the wooden piece on its base.

Halloween Lantern made from Pumpkin Or A water melon

The technique for making lanterns from pumpkin or water melon is almost the same as the one mentioned above except that in this example instead canisters you might use watermelon or pumpkin after cleaning the insides. Just draw a face and then make eyes and mouth by cutting those pieces. Instead of a light bulb, you may put the candle to give it an authentic look.

You can place it outside the house on a stake or a windowsill, or even on the dining table !

Since it is made from fresh plants, it tends to decay easily so make it only 1 night before Halloween.

Halloween Lantern Made With Paper Mache

Material used – you’ll need a gigantic balloon and material to make paper meshe besides the bulb holder, electrical cable, and something to hang the lantern.

Strategy –

First make paper meshe by mixing paper strips, flour, craft glue, and if you need some color you can add that too.
Blow the balloon to the size that you need and put a half in. coat of paper meshe all around it.

Leave it for drying overnite, and then pop the balloon. The basic shape of Lantern is now ready.

After you draw the eyes, then do the balance of the face features and color them as you wish and cut them out with assistance from scissors.

Never use candle since it might burn the lantern, instead employ a low voltage light bulb and makes an arrangement for hanging it or placing it flat on any surface. Your Lantern is now prepared.

These are the basic ideas. There isn’t any end to innovations and creativeness that we can try out. A Halloween lantern is so very easy to make and cheap. It also adds a touch festivities to your home.

Halloween Arts & Crafts Ideas – Look Spooky This Halloween

The first and foremost task involved in preparing for Halloween is to look out for places on where you can get yourself the costume you have been wanting to wear and show off amongst your friends. Halloween is all about wearing the dress you never even imagine of wearing on any other day of the year. Of course you would know that or else you would not be reading this article. The best option to look for ideas, on where to buy costumes or how to prepare one, is the Internet. Like all other information, tons of ideas for Halloween can be found on the Internet. Even though this article does not contain all the ideas for a complete Halloween, it would definitely help you start your preparation.

Halloween is just about creating a theme and strictly abiding to the theme. You can also have a normal party with people coming in different costumes but it would be real fun if you set aside a theme for Halloween. Halloween is about having fun decorations making it scary and eerie.

Let us take some time in going through a few ideas that can make you Halloween interesting.

Idea #1 – Do you have a bush in front of your house? Or can you create one just for the occasion? If yes, you are about to be the point of attraction in your neighborhood. Make a note of the items required for this idea. You need a white sheet as per the size of the bush, a newspaper, permanent black magic marker or fabric paint and cloth pins. The idea is to make a ghost like figure by painting a ghost on the white paper, folding the white sheet, balancing the sheet with the newspaper and securing the figure with the help of clothespins. Sounds really simple but it is definitely going to scare the passerby.

Idea #2 – The other idea for Halloween is to make your house look very festive and very scary, both the inside and the outside. I will show you how to get a scary path way. You will need lots of brown lunch bags, orange paint, sand and tea light or votive candle. Paint the bags orange in color and cut it out to make a scary face of a pumpkin. Fill half of the pumpkin face with sand and put a candle in it and light it. Make lots of these along the pathway and it would look really scary.

Idea #3 – You will require orange construction paper, white construction paper, pencil, scissors, string, tape, glue and staples. Draw a picture of a ghost on the white chart paper and pumpkin faces on the orange one. Be sure to make it a free hand draw to get originality. Also leave some space on top of the chart so that you can hang it to make a garland of ghosts and pumpkin faces. Fold over the space and place the string by the fold. Secure the created articles using staples, glue and tape. The pumpkin garland would look good with a green string and the ghosts with a black string to have a good contrast. Hang them all round your house and start the party.

Apart from these ideas, tons of examples and ideas can be found on the World Wide Web, but the best information center is your brain. As said creativity is the master of all arts.
