Fathers Day Crafts-Here is a Unique Specialty Gift Wrapping for Fathers Day That Anyone Can do

Ok, so you have the Fathers Day gift, now what?  Well why not incorporate some simple sports or hobby themed related items to your gift wrapping.    In order words, try adding layers of interest to what would normally be considered a traditional gift wrapped box with a bow.  This project will demonstrate how easily anyone can spice up a plain wrapped gift for Fathers Day that your loved one is sure to enjoy.

This project is all about the details.  Not only are you creating visual interest, your also something that your one love can use after the gift is unwrapped.

You will need the following supplies:

Sports or hobby related gift wrapping paper – We chose one that has an antiqued look to it. 1 small bungee cord – Use a medium or large bungee cord for larger boxes or packages.  Bungee cords come in a variety of colors and sizes.  Coordinate the color of your bungee cord with the colors in your wrapping paper. 1 name tag – Store bought or you can make your own.  Hole puncher Ribbon or cording – Choose a color that matches the colors in your gift wrapping. 1 decorative sports related item.  Choose items that can be easily attached to the end of your bungee cord.  You can purchase one at a party supply or craft store.   Another idea would be to look at what you have in the garage or in the house.   For example, your husband loves to play darts.  You could buy a package of darts and attach one of them to the bungee cord. Scotch tape Scissors Sharpie pen

Steps 1 – Begin by measuring and cutting your themed wrapping paper.  You can also use plain colored wrapping paper and stamp a sports or hobby related theme pattern on to your paper using different colored ink.   In attempt to keep this project simple, I opted for a decorative single sheet store bought wrapping paper.

Step 2 – Wrap paper and secure with scotch tape.

Step 3 – Using your hole puncher, punch a hole out on the top of the name tag and address card using your sharpie pen.  Set name tag aside.

Step 4 – Wrap bungee cord around the center of your box or package hooking the ends together.

Step 5 – Thread your ribbon or cording through the opening of your name tag and attach to the bungee hooks, and tie the ribbon at the back of the hook.

Step 6 – Attach a decorative theme related item to the other bungee cord hook by securing with ribbon or cording.  Take care not to cover too much of the design of your sports or hobby related wrapping paper.

Mothers Day Crafts-Create a Mothers Day Gift Wrap with a Gourmet Appeal Using Recycled Paper

Have you ever noticed some of the decorative grocery paper bags and thought, it’s too pretty to toss out, so why not repurpose this antiqued themed paper for Mothers Day gift wrapping?  Well, those were my thoughts when I was admiring the Traders Joes grocery paper bag I brought home from the store.  The printed design featured on the side of the bag has a timeless gourmet charm that resembles stamped patterns of vegetables, fruit, wine bottles, forks and a tea kettle.

This is the perfect project for Mothers Day gift wrapping.  “It is the balance of elegant meets recycled grocery paper”.

The supplies you will need for this project:

Decorative grocery paper bag – We choose to use a Trader Joes Grocery paper bag in an antiqued brown and barn red with a theme stamped  pattern.  Note if your gift box or package is medium or large, you will need to use more than one grocery bag. Fabric knit, approx. 12 inches in length – We choose Red to complement the colors in the paper. 1 Sheet of scrapbooking paper – We choose a chocolate brown with a shimmery metallic finish. 1 initial embellishment, adhesive backed for easy attachment. Craft scissors Scotch tape 1 name tag Fine writing pen or Sharpie pen – We choose the color white to use on chocolate brown paper.

Step 1 – Using your scissors, cut design pattern from grocery bag or bags depending on the size of your gift box or package.

Step 2 – Wrap and secure with scotch tape to package or box.

Step 3 – Wrap Fabric knit around the center of the package, securing it by tying a bow.  If working with a small gift, tie a small bow.  If the gift box or package is medium or larger, tie a larger bow, but not too big that the pattern of your paper won’t be visible.

Step 4 – Using your craft scissors cut a small section from your scrapbooking paper and fold in half creating  a small tag  that can be lifted up.  Craft scissors add a nice decorative trim to the edges of your card.

Step 5 – Next, attach the elegant initial embellishment to the front of the gift tag.  If it doesn’t already come with an adhesive on the back of it apply craft adhesive glue stick to it.

Step 6 – Address the gift tag, using a lighter colored pen on dark scrapbooking paper and a darker fine point pen on lighter paper.

What’s a good Easter gift for kids that isn’t candy or toys?

I have a 5 year old niece & a 3 year old nephew and I have no idea what to get them for Easter.

I’m thinking something smaller, like $10-20 each. They have MORE than enough toys and dolls, and they don’t watch a lot of TV. They like to do crafts with their mom, so if you can recommend some kind of craft kit that would work for those ages, that might work.

A Christian Gift from the Hills of Jerusalem

The human race has a unique relationship with stones.  Some stones, such as diamonds, emeralds and rubies, carry a carat value that puts them out of reach of the pockets of ordinary people.  Other stones are simply of the earth and significantly less expensive, yet no less beautiful.

The rocks and stones of Jerusalem have inspired some of the most compelling stories the World has ever seen and will probably continue to do so for another few thousand years.  The stones that were used to build the ancient and holy city were taken from the hills outside Jerusalem and there is something about them that draws us, that compels us to touch and feel the same stones that saw some of the most dramatic events in the history of mankind.

As we approach yet another holiday season, the stones of Jerusalem may be given as a Christian gift to mark special friendships and a link with loved ones.  In our troubled World there are few gifts that say all there is to say about the significance and importance of love and friendship but The Jerusalem Stone is both an inspirational Christian gift and a reminder of the Holy Land that may be kept close enough to touch.

The Jerusalem Stone is hand crafted in the Holy Land and small enough to be carried in a neat velour pouch, so it may be kept in a purse or pocket throughout the day.  It may be purchased as a single stone or in a pack of two for friends to share or to give away to a special couple such as parents or grandparents; a wonderful holiday gift and one rich in meaning and affection.

Novelty gifts draw a smile and provide five minutes amusement but a Christian gift that enables us to carry the provenance of the Hold Land in our hands provides us with a lasting reminder of the importance of peace on earth; the eternal message of Christianity.

Our friends and family are the most important people in the World and yet we often give them perfunctory gifts over the season of good will; gifts that mean little and cost a lot.  This year, why not give the people whom we love a present that means more than a few minutes entertainment?  Give a Christian gift of The Jerusalem Stone; part of the hills of Jerusalem and a beautiful token of love and friendship.

The Five Best DIY Gift Ideas for your Family

This Christmas, everybody’s stressed out about money, from autoworkers in Detroit to bigwigs on Wall Street (OK that’s a lie) to college students everywhere.  If you’re short on cash (or if you need to save your pennies for Chanel bags or PS3 games), it’s a good idea to consider creating homemade gifts for your friends and family.   Most people won’t care that you didn’t spend much money on them because they’ll be touched that you spent so much effort to come up with such creative DIY Gift Ideas.  Unless you’re buying gifts for 10-year-old boys who only like video games and sugary cereals, you can easily get away with a DIY Gift for Christmas.  Just roll up your sleeves, put the whiskey on the shelf, and get the right side of your brain rolling.

In Five DIY Gift Ideas for Christmas, I’ve presented some sure-fire concepts that really don’t take too long to complete.  If you’ve got a Sunday afternoon to spare, you could probably put one of them together with ease and creativity.

One really cool DIY gift idea is to make someone an original t-shirt by using an iron-on transfer (which costs about $10 for a pack of 10 transfer sheets).  Just print out a nice family photo or an embarrassing one with a funny tag line and then use an iron-on sheet and an iron to make your own, one-of-a-kind, DIY gift.  If you think that putting a photo on a t-shirt is a bit of a tired concept, you could always make a little collage of their favorite things: puppies and gossip girl for your little sister; wolves and ice cream for your older brother.  In total, you could make 3 or 4 original t-shirts for about $5 each, which is less than the cost of 3 burritos.

Rounding out the five homemade gift ideas are sock puppets, homemade fishing lures, and more!

If the items on this list are too difficult, confusing, or artsy for your taste, there’s a bunch of other cheap DIY gift ideas listed here.  Merry Crafting!
