Traditional Easter Games And Some New Fun Easter Activities – Part I

Easter is a wonderful holiday, especially for children. Family and friends have a great excuse to get together, and there’s great food and games. The games are key, as Easter is a time of the year that children really look forward to. After all, every year they expect the Easter Bunny to hide eggs, baskets, and/or treats, that they can than go and find.

So with such high expectations, what can we do to keep the kids happy and entertained? Why, games of course! Here is a list of some of the best Easter day games, guaranteed to meet both kids and parents expectations for a wonderful Easter.

The Egg Hunt

As already mentioned above, one of the most anticipated games of Easter is the Egg Hunt. In fact, it doesn’t matter if you have a small home or the weather isn’t cooperating for you to hide the eggs outside. An egg hunt doesn’t actually need a lot of space to still be fun. All you really need is creativity, and a half hour to an hour to play the game.

Just remember when you’re hiding eggs: don’t make the game to difficult! Hide them in easy to reach places, such as under bed or couch pillows, or behind the stuffed animals in a child’s room. This is a great hiding place because these soft toys are safe for children to be around, as stuffed lions, teddy bears, and other plush animals don’t have sharp corners or require kids to climb to get to them. The inside of shoes can also be a really fun hiding place, just make sure that the shoes you put the eggs in aren’t going to be worn, or you may find yourself with a mess! Remember, it’s very important to hide them in places within a child’s reach, because climbing sets them up for a fall, and safety should always be your foremost concern for children.

Also, just because the game is called an “egg hunt” doesn’t mean you have to just stick with eggs. Hide a stuffed rabbit in the home also, and tell them that the Easter Bunny left them a cousin of his to play with. In fact, you can use many things besides eggs. One really popular idea is hiding an Easter basket or baskets. You can fill the basket with candy (chocolate bunny rabbits, jellybeans, etc) and toys, like another stuffed bunny or a plush duckling. If you’ve got several children, and you want to make sure that they each get a basket, put each child’s name on one basket and tell them that they have to find the one that’s for them. This will most certainly be a great start to your Easter holiday!

Easter crafts

After the excitement and chaos of the Egg Hunt, it’s nice to have an activity for the kids that will wind everyone down, which is where doing Easter crafts come in. This is also great because it doesn’t require as much supervision as the egg hunt, and so is a little break for everyone. All you really need is some paper and crayons and the children can create all sorts of Easter related masterpieces. You can even give them some artistic inspiration by creating a display for them to base their pictures on. The display could have painted eggs, some chicks and a bunny.
Then you can make things as structured or unstructured as you’d like. Let them use their imaginations and draw anything they want about Easter, or tell them what do draw, such as painted eggs with chicks cracking through the shell, or a picture of the Easter bunny hiding eggs. You could even turn this into a contest, with the first prize drawing winning the bunny in the display, the second prize winning the chick, and everyone else getting the eggs as a consolidation prize.

The egg hunt and the arts and craft projects are very traditional Easter games, but you can make them more fun than usual by adding plush chicks and a stuffed bunny to motivate the children even more. Remember, there’s a lot you can do to make your Easter holiday one that all the kids will have fond memories of, just follow some of these simple ideas!

To find some great plush chicks, cute baby ducks, fluffy stuffed bunnies and many more plush animals just like the ones in the article visit KCPlush.com. Also, read the second part of the article for more fun activities to have on Easter!

Modern Indoor Games for Home Alone Kids

One of the realities of today’s society is the pressure for children to stay home alone for a short time after school until a parent returns from their work. Every day thousands of children arrive home from school to an empty house. It’s estimated that over 60% of children are left home alone. It can be very challenging and anxiety filled situation for parents and kids. Even one afternoon at a dance class, sports practice or being at another kid’s house is not much helpful. Often this poses a challenge for the working parents to keep their children inside the home and busy. They want their kids to engage in indoor activities rather than going outside and playing. Indoor games are an easy way to keep children secure in the four walls of house. Some of commonly indoor games played are chess, carom, table tennis, video games, cards, riddles and marbles etc. which are less popular today and these games involves two or more kids.

What if the child is single and needs to play alone. There are number of online games available for the little kids to spend their lonely hours. Some of the most popular online games are like online puzzles. Adventures games, fun games, sports games, music games, racing games, mind games, action games. Some of the games available free online are jungle battle, snake dash, school dress up, jamps, turtle pools etc. If your children are inclined more towards creative indoor activities then you can help them with simple projects for puppet making, homemade toys, and instruments. There are also an endless number of craft projects to fill an afternoon, from the reasonably tidy; play dough, stencilling and the like, all the way up to pretty messy stuff like papier mache. If you can help and guide your kids with messier projects and set them up properly, then the ‘mess factor’ (and stress factor!) can be minimized and they can still have a great time. Otherwise there are some Modern Indoor Games for lonely kids that help to keep your kids safe and happy at home so that parents can take a breath of relief like:-

Got a Clue?

Mixed up mysteries with hilarious results will provide giggle time for 2 or more players. Compile a few short mysteries (look to kids’ books for inspiration). Copy or type each story, leaving blanks for key words, such as a noun, a verb or an exclamation. Above each space write the type of word to be filled in. The players then take turns providing verbal entries to fill in the blanks and then read them aloud.

Ready…Switch

In this game each player makes one of three gestures such as touching their nose, arms pointed up like a “Y” and arms crossed over the chest. Player one begins by calling “Ready…Switch!,” at which point both players quickly make a gesture. If the gestures match, player one gets a point and starts the game again. If there is no match, player two begins. The first playerto get three points wins.

And the Wind Blew

Put your hot air to good use with this home made challenge game for 2 or more players. Two play this game you need 2 or more players, Table, Ping Pong ball. Players stand at opposite ends of the table. Place the ball in the center of the table. Begin by blowing the ball to keep it from falling off the table. Fabulous Crafts And Games For Upcoming Princess Parties

You have invited the royal guests and have planned a menu that would make any queen proud. The guests will be arriving soon with great expectation of fun and all things pink! You’re having a Princess Party!

Here are some easy and fun ideas for games and crafts to make your party the best one in the kingdom.

1. Make a tiara: These days at almost any craft store you can find precut fun foam princess tiaras and decorations for next to nothing. Purchase some glitter glue and a few extra sparkly gems and your princess and her guests will stay busy for quite some time. Make sure they all put their name inside the crown so that after the glue and glitter glue dries, they’ll know which is theirs. Don’t forget to take a picture with everyone wearing the crowns.

2. Musical Princess Slipper: This is a fun and easy game that takes no prep work at all. Have the party guests and princess of honor stand in a circle. Using a nice dress shoe (or glass slipper if you happen to have one!) start with the birthday girl and have the girls pass the slipper around the circle while music plays in the background. When the music stops, the guest holding the slipper jumps out of the circle and becomes the girl in charge of the music. Continue on until only one girl is left and she’s the princess winner.

3. Pin the crown on the frog: Another great variation of a traditional birthday party game that kids have loved for ages. You’ll need a large drawing of a frog on poster board and several construction paper crowns with double stick tape on the back. Each party guest gets a turn at being blindfolded and trying to stick the crown onto the top of the frog’s head. Make it even harder by making each child spin around 3 times before heading toward the frog. No peeking. Other variations of this game (depending on your artwork) are: Pin the kiss on the frog, Pin the slipper on the princess, Pin the jewel on the crown, etc. Have fun!

4. Princess treasure chests: Purchase inexpensive paper mache boxes at your local craft store. Use stickers, jewels and beads with tacky glue and have the girls decorate their treasure chest. Include some candy or other trinkets to put inside.

5. Decorate princess crown cookie: Another favorite with young girls…decorating cookies. Purchase an inexpensive crown cookie cutter and make 2 cookies per girl (just in case they break). Allow to cool before decorating. Then put out pink frosting, candies and other fun edible items and let the girls frost and decorate. Then let them eat the cookies as part of their snack, or wrap them in plastic wrap to take home as part of the take home gift.

6. Princess silhouettes: This is a fun “craft” for girls that are a bit older. Using a blank wall as backdrop, tape a large piece of butcher paper to the wall. Have each princess sit on the throne and shine a very bright light so that it casts a shadow onto the wall and paper. But here’s the fun part. Place a paper crown on her head so that it casts the obvious shadow as well. Then with a black marker, trace around her silhouette onto the butcher paper. Remove the butcher paper from the wall and either leave as is or have the girls decorate the crown for a different effect.

Create fun at your next princess party with these games and crafts. Make sure you have the camera handy for the whole event to keep the memories alive too. Enjoy and happy princess partying!

Annette Yen invites you to her website FunEvents4Girls.com to find everything you need for the perfect princess party and more!
