Card Making Crafts

Card Making

To become a good card making expert you need to have a creative and patient nature, it is a very precise art to undertake, below please find some tips. http://www.diyconservatories-and-windows.co.uk/

Tips:

• Keep scare cuttings from newspapers, magazines, crap paper etc, these will come in useful when you decide to start making cards, for example, you could get a lot of kitten and animal photos that could be cut out for the use of card making.

• Try to collect cut out punches so that you always have them at hand if you wish to create a certain shape, you can find the best deals on websites online or if you go to card boot sales, there are often craft stores which offer a huge saving on RRP rates.

• Always write down the plan of your card before you make it, this can avoid the mistakes usually made without planning, you are also able to be more creative with your designs and get the items needed to complete it.

• Get specialist plastic bags to place your cards within once drying to ensure that none of the items fall off your card, these can also be helpful if you plan to sell your cards, this will keep them safe and dust free.

• You get items such as flowers quite a lot, these can be useful, dry them out and then you will be able to use them within your card designs and make them look good.

• Get sticky sheets to ensure that you are able to create 3d effects with your images, as well as have the sticky tabs it is best to have something to go around the edges such as glitter to make it look flashier.

• Try to theme your cards if you aren’t planning on selling them, for example one of your relatives or someone in your family may be interested in a certain film, you could print off a picture and then get an embossing kit to make the image more 3d.

• Try to alternate between shapes with cards such as curvy tops to make it more presentable to the public if they are to be sold.

• Birthday Cards – for young people these should be colourful for example orange and pink is a good colour for birthday cards, or for older people light blues and purples are good colours.

• Valentines Cards – Obviously red is a good colour for love, to go with red you could use white or pink, also I find black is a good colour to contrast with the red.

• Christmas Cards – These usually use pastel colours to make it more calming.

Thanksgiving Crafts-Learn to Make a Personalized Thanksgiving Place Card Holder

Grab your Thanksgiving guests’ attention when heading to the table for their feast, and guide them to their seats with a one of a kind personalized place card holder.

To create custom designed place card holders without breaking the bank, start by using a simple candle holder and build your design up from there.  For this project, you will need the following supplies:

Candle holders-We chose a simple store bought brown metal holder in the shape of a leaf to represent the harvest theme of autumn.  Ceramic would also work well. Candles-We chose to use candles in the shape of an autumn leaf in yellow and rust colors. Wired ribbon-Copper color, but any other coordinating color would be fine, as well as satin ribbon (approx. 6 in. in length) Craft Scissors Glue gun Glue sticks Glass stones-We used rust and brown colored stones Artificial berries and nuts Sharpie pen-Black or brown Hole puncher

Step 1:

Position your candle on to the middle of the candle holder.  Using your glue gun, glue the glass stones and artificial berries and nuts to the base of the candle holder, focusing at the top of the holder and the stem.   Once your items are secured to the metal, move on to Step 2.

Step 2:

Using your craft scissors, cut patterned card paper to desired length and fold in half.   Next, punch out a hole at the top left corner of the card using your hole puncher.   Then, using your sharpie pen, write the name of each of your invited guests on each name card.

Step 3:

Wrap your precut ribbon around the base of the candle holder securing it at the top of the candle by tying a bow.  As a finishing touch, you might also consider wrapping clear colored cellophane around your place card holder.  You are now ready to place your unique place card holder on to the center of each dinner plate.  Not only will these custom place card holders work well to accent your autumn center piece table setting, it will also be a nice personalized holiday favor for your guests to take home as a remembrance of a fine celebration.

Craft a handmade Birthday card

If you have an artistic hand and you like to add a personal touch to gift a birthday card then it is very simple to make on at your home. It will require some materials that are usually found at home and time of minimum 15 minutes. Cards craft book helps you in making cards with minimum efforts.

Many times it also happens that you don’t find the right card of your choice and so it is a great idea to craft one of your own. You should collect materials such as a white blank card, birthday border sticker, happy birthday sticker, birthday cake sticker, red balloon stickers, green gift box stickers, blue birthday candle stickers, green birthday candle stickers, yellow birthday candle stickers, blue double note sticker, red double note sticker, yellow single note sticker, red single note sticker, green single note sticker, red bold tip pen.

Instructions for making a birthday card
1. First cut the border sticker from the sheet of stickers. Then cut the border in half and center one half of the border at the top of the card. Once you are satisfied with the look, peel the sticker from the back and press it to the card in the predetermined spot. Center and attach the other half of the border sticker to the bottom of the card.

2. Then center and attach the Happy Birthday sticker below the top border.

3. Next center and attach the Birthday cake sticker below the happy birthday sticker but remember to leave enough room to write the name of the recipient.

4. Now arrange and attach a red balloon sticker on either side of the happy birthday sticker.

5. Then arrange and attach two blue candle stickers slightly above and to the left of the red balloon sticker on the left hand side. Line up a green candle sticker with the closest candle sticker and press it to the card. Attach another green candle sticker next to it with the same spacing between them as between the two blue ones. Repeat with the remaining set of candle stickers, that is the yellow ones.

6. Arrange and attach the double and single note stickers above, beside and below the red balloon sticker on the right.

7. Arrange and attach a green gift box on either side of the cake and then press into place.

8. Write the name of the recipient when you are ready to give the card to someone.
