Some Tips on How to Use Pva Glue

Poly Vinyl Acetate (PVA) Glue is the most common white glue available in the market. It is a popular glue used in the method of mosaic making. It is water based glue and does not contain any solvent. It is toxic when taken inside. However, it is not dangerous to touch. It will not emit harmful gases either. Therefore, inhaling it will not cause any serious problem.

PVA glue sets well when there is good air circulation. Most of the PVA glues are not waterproof. You need to apply slight pressure to adhere this glue. This process is called clamping. Normally there are two varieties in PVA glue. White PVA is the most common glue. Yellow PVA is also available which has high moisturizing capacity. They have shorter shelf life than white PVA.

More soluble PVA is used in doing children, crafts. Diluted PVA glue can be used as a prime in any surface to get it ready for applying mosaic.

PVA glue can be used as a bond in wood, paper, cloth and in porous material. It is the most commonly used wood glue. It is also termed as carpenter’s glue or yellow glue. Sometimes white glues are also used in proving bond between wooden surfaces. These glues are well used in surfaces where water resistance is required. Little glue can bind more pieces of wood. However, the carpenter needs to clamp the glue until it dries.

PVA glue is a copolymer in most of the expensive acrylics. You can use it in leather works and paper Mache also.

Uses of PVA glue: PVA glue is used in bookbinding and in art working. It is flexible and tough. It is non-acidic and so it is not harmful to health and skin. PVA white glue is used in more areas than yellow glue. Elmer glue is the best brand selling PVA white glue. It can be used well with paper, paints and in industrial coatings. It can be used to protect cheese from fungi and humidity.

The following are some of the tips to use PVA glues:

Most of the PVA glues are designed to use with porous materials only. They are water based and can be cleaned up with warm soap water. You should not allow them to freeze. Since freezing will break down the polymer and glue will become useless, freezing should be avoided. Some PVA glues are available at expensive rates. You should be aware of them. All the PVA glues are serving the same purpose only.

You may think that PVA can not be used to fill gaps. However, sometimes you can use it to fill gaps by adding sawdust to it. Nowadays PVA white glues are available in tube form so that you can use it easily. This is not at all messy. It can be diluted and used for sealing.

PVA glues are not the plain old glue available in the market. They come in numerous formulae and each one of the formula may be slightly different. However, it serves the gluing purpose effectively.

The types of party favors given out change with the various celebrations observed. The hosts of a party can either choose to buy party favors or hand craft them. Kids birthday party favors do not need to be expensive.  Ladybugs are multihued oval shaped winged insects that are idolized by kids.  They are called as ladybirds or ladybeetles too.

The ladybug is believed to symbolize good luck in several cultures. It is said to be a harbinger of good weather, finer harvest and wealth. Its many embodiments are supposed to initiate exceptional welfare to people. It is seen to represent belief, happiness and aspiration.

Farmers and gardeners love Ladybugs as they limit dangerous pests. They are beetles that prey on pests like aphids that ruin harvests. Types Of Rugs

There are many types of rugs. Oriental, Persian, Tibetan, Caucasian, War, Prayer, Flokati, kids, indoor/outdoor, hand made, amd machine made rugs. There are many different types of rugs that can be used for many types of things.

Oriental rugs, Persian rugs, Tibetan rugs and Caucasian rugs are all hand made. These rugs are made on a loom by hand or they are woven by hand. It generally takes a year or longer to make a large, hand woven rug. These rugs have designs on them that are called motifs. Every time the design or color of the rug changes the person making the rug has to change the fabric. And, because each rug is hand crafted, the design on each is just slightly different. Most of these hand made rugs are made with wool; however, some rugs are made of silk, animal hair (such as wool) or cotton.

War rugs are rugs that are made in Afghanistan. Women started weaving symbols of war into rugs when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan. War rugs were also made in Afghanistan after September 11, 2001, depicting scenes from the world trade center tragedy. War rugs are in high demand today because many people see them as collectibles. Some war rugs sell for as much as $25,000.

Prayer rugs are generally hand made; however, prayer rugs can be machine made. Prayer rugs are one sided rugs that are used by Muslims and others to kneel for prayer on. The prayer rugs have an arch on one side for the person to put their knees under. Prayer rugs are used so that the person praying can be more comfortable and have a clean place to pray.

Kid’s rugs are generally machine made and are meant to be used in a high traffic high use area. Kid’s rugs often have pictures on them of things like roads, highways, planets, sports or other designs that would appeal to a child. Kid’s rugs are made to go in a Childs room to accent the room. Kid’s rugs are also used to give the child something to play with. For example a kid’s rug with roads on it can be used as a highway for toy cars.

Flokati rugs are a type of rug that is of Greek origin. Flokati rugs are made of 100% wool. Once the rug is finished being woven it is bathed in mountain spring water and than hung to dry.

Greg Garner represents the area rugs industry.

Shawls, Scarves, Tapestries, Fabric Arts & Crafts ? 10 Creative Ways To Apply Natural Dyes

1.Knit your own natural, hand-dyed luxurious silk shawls, scarves and wraps as birthday gifts and holiday gifts! Include a recycled paper card letting your special someone know that their gift was hand-knit and hand-dyed using natural dyes made with love from your very own garden or local farmer’s market!

2.Revive your wardrobe. Everyone has something white or pastel that they cannot wear because of some annoying food or beverage stain. Instead of pitching it, bring it back to life! Revitalize it with some homemade natural dye (and have fun doing it!)

3.Knitting shawls, scarves or comfy-cosy wraps as gifts is a great way to show your loved ones how much you care. Use undyed silk, wool, cashmere or silk/wool blend yarn and dye it in a natural dye of your choosing. Your loved ones will love it and the environment will thank you for it!

4.Add some passion to your bedroom curtains and dye them naturally with pomegranate, beet or mangosteen. You can even mix a little indigo in with any one of the above to create some purple passion!

5.Transform a stained white or pastel tablecloth into something beautiful again! Choose a dark-colored natural dye made from indigo, walnut hulls, pomegranate, beet or mangosteen so your next stains won’t be as visible!

6.Gather your old shawls, scarves, sarongs, sheets, dresses, t-shirts, towels and tablecloths and transform them into creative works of art! Using your own handmade natural dyes, you can make prayer flags, holiday flags, wall hangings, tapestries, wall art and more.

7.Get creative in your art space at home and at work. Make natural dyes for use in fabric art, dyeing canvas, batik art and whatever else inspires you. The possibilities are endless!

8.Go Green in the classroom! Take your class on a field trip to the local botanical garden, farmer’s market or nursery and select your plants for natural dyeing. Prepare natural dyes together as a class, bottle them up and use them to make safe, environmentally friendly arts & crafts projects and holiday gifts.

9.Get creative with your kids over summer vacation! Make your own natural dyes as a family and use them to make cool, tie-dye t-shirts that are colorful, safe and environmentally friendly!

10.Design your eco-friendly clothes or accessories line! Buy undyed organic cotton, hemp or bamboo fabric and dye them with your own natural dyes. You can even reuse patches of old fabric and dye it with a complimentary color, creating a textured, patchwork look to your design.
